What To Do With Your Wedding Insurance And Your Wedding Entertainment

Posted by: Parker Chuks  :  Category: Wedding

Whenever you decide to hire the reception band or disc jockey, finding out that they are covered by your wedding insurance policy is critical. One of the most important vendors of your one and only nuptial celebration is your wedding entertainment. Of all of the different vendors of your ceremony and reception, it is your wedding MC, DJ, band, etc. that will either make or break the result of your reception. Entertain the following questions. Do your friends and family vacate your reception early because the flowers don’t look good with the rest of the décor? Do people get bored because they dislike how your wedding dress fits you? Will your guests start considering whether or not it’s too early to leave because of the lighting, the cake, the appetizers, the linens, the style of bridesmaid dresses, or even the photographer? You’ve got to be kidding me! But if the DJ/MC is irritating or the band is not good at all, you can bet your wedding guests will be rushing to say congratulations so they can take off.

Having wedding insurance in all likelihood would cover you if your musical entertainment is horrendous, so that is why it’s critical to book true professionals to begin with. What is of utmost importance is that your wedding entertainment has wedding liability insurance. This will guard you in case one of their speakers falls over and breaks a friend’s beak or if the music is so loud it explodes someone’s eardrum and they need to be rushed to the hospital. I’m just goofing off here, but it would be very sad if someone got hurt due to the entertainment and you got hit up with a lawsuit.

One thing you can make sure of is that your wedding insurance policy will cover you if your band or DJ/MC pulls a fast one on you, wreck their car on the way to the reception, or if an important member flakes. Without your disc jockey, you might be able to use the location’s PA to play some nice and quiet background music during dinner. After the main course, though, there wouldn’t be any dancing or fun so your wedding party would simply end up as a wedding dinner. All the guests would make for the door as soon as the cake was served. Having wedding insurance coverage should allow you to recuperate not only the money for the disc jockey and/or band, but even more for your friends and family leaving 3 hours early!

Another thought is to have a back up plan for your band or disc jockey. You probably can’t afford to have two separate disc jockeys or bands on hold for your wedding day, but knowing where to go in case of an emergency is a good idea. While talking to your DJ or band, keep the contact information for all of the companies you contact. If it turns out your first choice isn’t going to work out, you can call your other companies to see if they still have your reception date uncommitted. You can also go through your local associations, like the ADJA (American Disc Jockey Association) and keep their telephone number ready. Some carry an emergency phone number just in case a band runs into issues and can’t make it to your event. Regardless, your wedding insurance should kick in to cover your losses if you have problems with your entertainment.

Like I said earlier, your entertainment is the only part of your celebration that will either make your wedding festivities fun and memorable or ruin it by being awful or even completely lacking. Put the best in place. Basically, this is the area you SHOULD NOT skimp on! You can spend $50,000 on all the other sections of your wedding, but if your DJ or band is awful, your loved ones will leave early and all that money will be spent in vain. You can always try to save money with your entertainment if you have wedding insurance, but why risk it?
